Hey guys! Earth day is right around the corner so I’ve I teamed up with Re-play Recycled to show you some fun ideas to get out and enjoy the Earth! If you didn’t know this tableware is made from recycled milk jugs which is saving hundreds of thousands of milk jugs from going to the landfill. Which make these perfect to make Earthday Everyday!
We’ve had the most beautful weather lately and this week it’s going to be in the 80’s so we have plans to campout in the backyard and work on adding items to our nature journals. These were super easy to make and such a fun craft to do with my girls. I’ll share how we made them later on in the post but let’s check out this cute setup!
We are on lockdown day 30 something over here due to Covid-19 so we are all going a bit stir crazy. With nothing but time on our hands I set up a few different activities for this shoot to keep us busy.
Re-plays color of the month this month is sky blue so swing by to check it out and save 20%. I paired it up with kelly green and white for this shoot to really give it that Earth Day feel.
I recycled tin cans from dinner the night before to plant flowers for added pretty and we made Earth inspired sugar cookies by using food coloring to color the cookie dough.
I found this wall tapestry at Target and decided to leave it up in my office that I’ve now transformed into a classroom. It adds a pop of cheerfulness to help get us through this homeschooling madness. For the nature journals shown below I simply cut 5 pieces of cardstock in half, hole punched them and then tied them together with some twine. I let the girls decorate the cover and now we have 10 blank pages inside to draw or tape things to that we find on our walks every evening.
I found a bunch of really fun Earth Day inspired coloring pages for free on Pinterest.
I used a recycled paper roll as a tablecloth to give the girls another area to draw on.
Activity number 2 was to decorate some reusable canvas bags. I found these white canvas bags at Hobby Lobby for $1.99 each along with some cute iron or patches and buttons. An estimated 500 BILLION plastic bags are used every year and many end up in landfills. You can use these reusable bags for grocery shopping, park playdates or beach bags. I’ve been using them as school bags. They hang on the back of the girls chairs in our classroom and I use them to help me keep all the school work they’ve completed at home organized.
For Christmas well over a year ago my husband bought me this Cricut Easy Press and its just been sitting there in the box. This was the perfect time to finally break it out and learn how to use it. This was my very first time using it and it was so easy. Maybe thats why its called an easy press. It comes in 4 different sizes for a variety of projects and now I need all 4!
I found some really cute Earthday graphics in the Cricut image library that I cut out using my Cricut Explore and some iron on vinyl. This was my frist time using iron on vinyl. My one piece of advice is to make sure your mirror setting is turned on when using iron on. 🙂
You will have already pre heated the press so its ready to go, once you have your design positioned you’re going to cover it with your easy press and hit start. Different materials have different settings so just read your manual before hand for the approproate time and temp needed for your project.
In only 30 seconds my vinly was adhered so I just peeled away the clear tape and was ready to move onto design number 2.
For this design I wanted to use 3 different colors of vinyl. So I did this one in 3 steps adhereing one line at a time and leaving the plastic covering on for protection.
After the vinyl was adhered I let the girls place all the other patches they wanted to add.
Then used my Easy Press to adhere those as well.
We love using out snack stacks for storing snacks instead of using plastic baggies.
Last we added the cute rainbow & star pins. They came out so cute! After crafts we headed outside for lunch. I made some grazing plates using the larger 9″ flat plates.Â
After lunch we set out to find some things to add to our nature journal. I found these divided boxes at Target which are perfect for gathering and holding all your treasures.
After working on our journals we sat down for a treat of worms in dirt: chocolate pudding with crushed oreos and gummy worms.
Our last activity of the afternoon was planting flowers for our fairy garden.
We used these biodegrable cups you can find at any home improvement store and layered with soil and flower seeds. It’s one of their daily chores to go out and check on their seeds and water them if needed.
Once the seeds start to grow you can plant the cups directly into the ground and they decompose making them Earth friendly.
Wasn’t that fun?! Thanks so much for sticking around. I hope you were able to gain some ispiration for some fun activites to do with your kids to make Everyday Earthday!
