Take a walk with me into the Enchanted Fourest, where laughter is timeless, imagination has no age & dreams are forever. This is by far my most favorite session I’ve ever done. I hand crafted so many pieces to pull it all together and obsessed over every little detail. I’m surprised my husband didn’t divorce me during the process. I am so excited to share with you my little Olivia’s 4th birthday Fairytale Session.
One afternoon I was talking with my daughter about her upcoming birthday party. I was just a wee bit excited because this year she had chosen a fairy theme. That might have something to do with the fact that every time she turned around I was playing every Tinkerbell movie ever created. I had been secretly planning a fairy party for oh about 4 years in hopes that one day one of them would pick it for their theme. Score one for mom, finally! I asked her if there was anything special she wanted to do during the party. She said all she wanted was to have a fairy come and dance with her and her friends. (insert hysterical, crying face emoji here) Later that night at bedtime, we had read our stories and said our goodnight wishes and she whispered to me,
“Mommy, how will the fairies know to come if we don’t invite them?”
I thought what an amazing little question. I could just see her little mind working….wondering as she drifted off to sleep. I told her not to worry, that I would make up a special fairy sized invitation and figure out a way to get it to them. So that is just what I did. I planned an amazing little adventure for her and her sister to head out into the “fourest” in search of fairies to invite, to enjoy some birthday cupcakes and make a whole bunch of memories while they were there.
The most amazing thing I have ever created aside from my children is this Fairy Friendship Kit. We will not talk about the amount of hours that I put into it but yeah, it was a lot. I’m kicking myself now for not photoing the process to share because I will never make another one again but ah well.
Inside the Friendship kit is everything you need to go on a hunt to find your new Fairy BFF. There is a mini magnifying glass because they can be so hard to see sometimes. A mini wand in case your Fairy friend has misplaced theirs. Stones for your new friend to take a rest on if she is tired from all that flying. Fairies love anything that sparkles so you need tiny jars full of little girls wishes & dreams and magic glitter to sprinkle everywhere. Fairies swarm to glitter like I swarm to chocolate cake. There is a little satchel full of tiny treats because like me they love anything sweet. You of course need a fairy journal to keep notes and to draw pictures of your new friends. Last but not least and maybe the most important thing in the box is the magic key. The magic key opens the secret box…. Inside the secret box is the perfect little spot for your fairy friend to sit while you two talk and get to know each other. To entice the fairies to come out and play we set out their sweet treats….. We sprinkled our magic fairy wishes over everything to make it extra sparkly… And then we waited….and waited…made some new friends…and waited some more…Eventually we got tired of waiting so we ventured out into the fourest to look for the fairies ourselves. We thought we saw some over there…. We walked for what seemed like forever… We looked in all the tiniest of hiding places… But eventually we had to give up and head back…
We think they were just too scared to come out and play…So we set out our invitation in hopes that they would find it… I told them all we had to do was believe…
and so they did..
Stay tuned for Part II of the Enchanted Fourest as we venture into “Olivia’s Pixie Hollow” for her birthday party and to see if a fairy ever found her invitation.
