I am so ready to share with you this adorable Rapunzel themed party I put together for my daughters 7th birthday. She is obsessed with the movie Tangled so lots of planning went into making this feel as authentic as possible. Take a look back at Olivia’s Best Day Ever birthday photoshoot to get a preview of what I was working on at the time. We spent hours together cuddled up on the couch though watching the movie over & over again so I could pick up new details every time to get inspired by. There’s so much pretty to see, let’s go check it out! ***Disclosure: This post contains affiliate links to some of my favorite Rapunzel Party decorations used to bring this theme to life. Also, a quick shout out to Shindigz for teaming up with me and helping bring this party to the next level! Now, onto the pretty…
The guests entered the party through the side gate so I wanted to start the decorating there by covering the gate in this flagstone paper which remided me of the bricks from Rapunzels tower. I made a cute sign to hang on the gate and covered it in moss to give it more of that enchanted feel.
If you know anything about the movie Tangled then you know lanterns play a huge roll so I incorporated that aspect by using a variety of sizes of yellow paper lanterns.
Balloons….so many balloons. This is definately the biggest balloon install I’ve ever done. Using a mix of yellow, pink, & purple this beautiful balloon wall was the show stopper. The pink and purple chrome balloons are my favortie. It was such a hot day out that they started popping before I got aroung to taking photos so there are some gaps that aren’t quite filled in but it still looked amazing. Thank you to my dear friend Dominique with C&D Balloons for coming down and helping me blow up & hang this bad boy!
For kids seating we used the pink picnic tables my husband built for my last glamping party.
Centerpieces were made using birch bark flower pots and flowers from the spring line at Michaels on top of yellow table runners.
These wildflower plates reminded me of the flowers Rapunzel wears in her hair.
Yarn wrapped milk bottles for cups.
Lavender napkins and pink cutlery rounded out the place settings.
Maximus came to visit!
We positioned the balloons around boxwood panels to make it feel more enchanted. Some of them had vines growing up them and the focal point of the backdrop was this large wooden O wrapped in yarn.
Dessert time! I found the little metal table on Facebook marketplace for $10 and gave it a coat of purple paint and added some vinyle stickers to it that I made using my Cricut.
Sweets by Gigi coming in with the cutest Pascal cake pops & most beautiful cookies!
I teamed up with Jennifer from The Prettiest Print Shop to make all the printables designs. I uploaded her design to get these custom cupcake toppers. Mini cast iron pans made for a cute way to display them.
A princess party isn’t complete without her crown! When planning a character party I always like to look for little toy figurines to use as part of the decor or even cake toppers.
This cake though! Wow. Thank you to Baked by Bri for the beautiful cake & cupcakes.
Funny thing though, out of all the pretty desserts I had the chocolate rocks around the bottom of the cake were the biggest hit. 🙂
Oh hey, Rapunzel.
The Snuggly Duckling is the pub Rapunzel visits in the movie so I made that my drink station. I purchased this design from a shop on etsy and had it printed as a custom poster. Then cut it out and attached it to some foam board.
Love these lavender highball cups mixed with pink & yellow smaller paper cups.
I made these books to represent all the books Rapunzel reads while locked in the tower. They started off as plain paper mache books that I painted and added vinyl decals to resemble the ones from the movie. Such a fun project!
Custom yard signs are becoming quite popular. I uploaded this design made for me by Prettiest Print Shop and my intention was to cut out the tower which is why it has a white background but in the end I was afraid I would butcher it so I just left it alone 🙂
Check out this birch wood frame! I repurposed this frame from Olivia’s 4th birthday where it started as a fairy door. I took the door off and adorned it with flowers using some twig garland.
In the movie the marketplace is where Rapunzel goes to get her hair braided & dance so I used this as an entrance into the grassy area where the party activites would take place.
I used yellow plastic tablecloths tied together with zip ties to make one really long piece to resemble Rapunzel’s hair. This hung from the yellow grouping of balloons in our balloon cloud.
The Magic Golden Flower
Hair Braiding Station complete with hairbrushes, De-Tangled Spray & flower hair clips.
I found these golden brushes at the Dollar Store and added my vinyl stickers.
The De-Tangled spray was made using ylang ylang & lavender essential oils with some added mica powder for shimmer.
My niece painted this.
I made coloring books using customized pages and wrapped them up to look like the invitations I sent out.
Rapunzel loves to paint, so I wanted to work in a painting activity for the kids. Brushes, canvases & paint pots using customized candy jars were set out for them to paint whatever they wanted.
Using my Cricut once again I made these crayon boxes to go along with the coloring books.
My niece painted this one too.
I found this free wanted poster printable on DIY Inspired.
The Favor Station
Everyone got their own Royal Shimmer Rapunzel Doll.
My daughter loves ring pops. It’s like her favorite candy so she wanted to make sure everyone got one. I had to think of a cute way to display them so I used these gold insert favor boxes and added this cute Royal Jewels tag.
The pretty little invitations I whipped up. If you want to take a look at the inside you can check them out here.
I used these purple kraft bags for favors and adorned with a personalied pascal cutout and thank you tag.
I cut this saying out myself but you can totally use this Best Day Ever!
Onto the actual food. SO many details to share! I always ask the girls what food they want to eat at the party and try to find cute ways to incorporate them. Olivia had some very specific requests. Grapes, cantaloupe & McDonald’s cheeseburgers.
Cantaloupe balls became Hazelnut Soup which is what Rapunzel was getting for her birthday dinner in the movie.
And my sister braided me up some breadsticks because why not? Displayed perfectly in this larger cast iron pan.
Finally onto some party fun. Here is our very own Rapunzel!
Flynn Rider even made an appearance. I put together Flynns costume using this blue vest and Satchel.
All the girls took turns getting their hair braided.
Then it was time to eat.
My favorite part of the entire party was when all the girls gathered to dance to the Kingdom Dance song from the movie. I downloaded the soundtrack and had that playing throughout the entire party.
My sister flew in with her daughter bringing Olivia’s cousin & bestie. After dancing the kids were able to paint & color.
Then it was time for cake! I take back what I said earlier, cake is always my favorite part of the party. 🙂
Oh hey, Pascal.
This 2 foot tall Maximus was a huge hit.
Olivia got this bow & arrow set for Easter when her Rapunzel obsession started so it was a great prop to work in.
To wrap things up all the kids got their favors and we gathered around to watch Olivia open gifts.
It really was Olivia’s Best Day Ever. Thanks so much for sticking around and don’t forget to pin it for later!
