In true Five Whimsy Lane fashion I am bringing to you my daughter’s 10th birthday party just a few months late. Funny thing is her birthday is in November, we had the party in January and I’m sharing it in April. What’s even funnier is I don’t think I’ve even shared her 9th birthday party yet. Bringing a whole new meaning to the term “Better late than never.” 🙂

She’s 10 all year long, who cares when we celebrate right? Since this was a super last minute decision to throw something together I wanted to keep it as low key as possible. Leilani loves to bake, & decorate all the treats and she also loves the Kids Baking Championship show. Lucky for me Duff who happens to be a judge on the show recently opened up a DIY cake decorating studio at the Irvine Spectrum which is pretty close to us so it all came together quite easily. Check out the cute Baking Party Invitation I put together.
Isn’t the studio so cute? They provide everything so all we had to do was show up with balloons & call it a day. I quickly blew up a mix of orb, gold chrome & metallic star balloons when we arrived using my portable helium tank.
Inside they provide you with all the inspiration & supplies needed to bring your cake to life. You are able to pick either a cupcake pack or single cake & the flavor. Then you choose either one of their designs or if you want to create your own design.
So many fun decorations to choose from!
The only downfall to hosting your party at a venue like this is you don’t have a lot of time to set anything up before hand. We literally had minutes from the time they opened until our guests started arriving, so I knew I had to make the centerpieces super easy. These balloon stands were the perfect answer. To make them sturider I suggest hot gluing the sticks into the bottom base to keep them from falling out.
Since we celebrated the month before Valentine’s Day I was able to find some of the cutest baking items in the Target Dollar Spot including these heart aprons. My original idea though before finding the heart aprons was to pick up some kids sized white aprons and use my Cricut to personalize them with the girls names.
Time to decorate!
Leilani chose a 6 inch vanilla cake & wanted to come up with her own design.
Her little froggies are so cute!
Everyone had so much fun.
I got there early and snagged a couple tables outside so after the decorating was done we could celebrate a little longer. Using my Aqua 3 tier rolling cart I set up a cute little station to hold some party pretties. I found the baking party printables on Etsy from Print A Party Co.
The guests took home some mini baking utensils as a party favor.
I set the tables using coral tablecloths, aqua plates & black & white silverware.
Apparently, Boxed Water Is Better. I really just liked it because it matched my silverware & ribbon. 🙂
My plan was to use the cake Leilani decorated for when we sang happy birthday but she wasn’t thrilled about the idea of cutting into her masterpiece just yet. Luckily, you can purchase plain cakes from the studio as well. I threw a gold acrylic topper on it and called it a day.
Prezzie Time!

Thank you to everyone who came out on such short notice and made it such a memorable day for our little love bug!
