I’m so happy to share with you my latest finished project which happens to be my daughters bedroom makeover. The biggest project I ever put online was when I re decorated their bedroom years ago when I transitioned both my girls into toddler beds. I called it “The Land of Make Believe” and its been viewed over 2 million times on Project Junior. I’ve been working on this one for a while now and finally came to finish this past weekend. I love to decorate but it takes me a while to piece it all together. I like to get a feel for the space and use it for a while to figure out just what we need and then add pieces one by one. We had just come off my daughters Enchanted Seas birthday party when I got the idea to re decorate their room so I had a lot of decor left over that I thought would be fun to incorporate into a bedroom. Then I came across the Target Pillowfort line which is pretty much made with my girls in mind so it was all a perfect fit. Let me walk you through what I did. I’ll be sharing links and where I purchased everything.
There are a few wood cutout pieces used thru out the room. The door sign, seahorse & whale came from Michael’s. I painted them & threw on some glitter to spruce them up. This light switch came from Hobby Lobby. I cant remember the paint color name but I always use Behr from Home Depot and its just a soft lavender color. I like to use a semi gloss because it makes clean up easier and I can also hot glue things to the wall and peel the glue off later and it wont peel the paint.
This dresser set up is so fun! The dresser is called Tarva from Ikea. It comes unfinished so you have to paint it and I changed the knobs. I used my Cricut Explore to cut vinyl decals for the drawers to give it a fun way for the girls to keep it organized.
The Sweet Dreams sign is from Hobby Lobby.
The wood shelf is from Michael’s and I used coordinating picture frames above their bed to bring in more of the wood aspect.
These lanterns are the Martha Stewart accordion lanterns but I can’t seem to find them in stock anymore. I wanna say I got them from Shindigz but I know Michaels used to carry them as well.
All the hanging starfish & jelly fish you’ll see came from Hobby Lobby in the christmas section.
All the bubbles you see on the wall are iridescent vinyl I cut out with different sized craft punches.
This Make A Wish sign came from Etsy.
This fun little lamp came from Hobby Lobby and I covered the lampshade in sequin fabric using spray glue. I share the tutorials for those kinds of projects on my Instagram page.
Love this little diffuser. Target has another line called Opalhouse. I love everything in it and currently finding ways to incorporate all of that line into every other nook and cranny in my house.
I had a few of these little wood boxes left over from the birthday party. I stained and decorated each one of them and they were filled with a clay block the kids had to dig apart to find treasures inside. I now use them in the room to store the girls essential oil rollers that I’ve made.
I made this believe roller to use around homework time to help the girls focus and “Believe” they can do anything. Hit me up if you’re interested in a custom set of rollers or interested in learning about using essential oils.
These knobs are from Hobby Lobby.
I hung some netting on the back of the closet door and let the girls decorate it with their own artwork. They love switching it out on a regular basis.
I had this giant shell leftover from the birthday party as well.
These crystal beaded curtains I hung on the window and outside their bedroom door are from Shindigz.
Target no longer carries these specific ruffle curtains but they do have a very similar pair of ruffle blackout curtains.
These bubble garlands are from the Michaels Christmas line. I know they’ve carried them 2 years in a row so you might be able to get some this upcoming season as well.
The girls Jenny Lind beds are from Crate & Kids.
I got this 3 tier wire basket from Kohls. It was originally black so I spray painted it white.
For their bedding I used this Ombre Comforter Set
With these Metallic Heart Sheets
With a selection of different pillows with this Narwhal being my fav! The rainbow pillow is from Kohls.
Both beds have a mermaid tail blanket draped over the end.
I love this nightlight because it reminded me of the little pink sea urchins I have all over the room.
I also cut this vinyl decal using my Cricut and the mermaid cutout that I painted & glittered is from Hobby Lobby.
This high low triangle rug is also from the pillowfort line.
Two more fun throw pillows are the crown and you are magical.
A better look at the purple mermaid tail blanket
My daughter has named this mermaid throw pillow Mermaid, Mermaid. 🙂
This amazing chandelier is from Hey Girl Decor.
I made a bed skirt by stapling raffia table skirts along the inside of the bed frame and trimming them to size.
The future is bright sign is from Target, but I cant find it on their site. The little drift wood table was a Home Goods find and the little clam shell night light is from Typo.
The bookcase is Jenny Lind from Crate & kids.
Both the Lets Be Mermaids (cant find it online) and Pink Lantern are from Pillowfort. The lantern is rechargable by a USB cable and can be used anywhere. The girls love taking it into their blanket forts.
The starfish banks are Pillowfort as well, I customized them with vinyl decals. These came out a while ago when I first started decorating so I don’t think they carry them anymore. They do have this adorable Narwhal bank though that would totally work.
I use this rope storage basket to store all of their headbands and scrunchies. A few more storage ideas that I didn’t take photos of but wanted to share are these pink storage bins that I use for all their art supplies and legos that are stored under their bed. I also use these wire bins in their closet to help keep their books organized.
This collection of starfish boxes were found at Home Goods and the treasure chest was leftover from the party but originally came from Hobby Lobby. It comes in a plain paper mache and you can decorate it however you’d like.
So there you have it. All the details that went into this mermaid makeover. I hope it provides you with a little bit of inspiration! Thanks so much for checking it out!
