I’m so excited to share with you my latest crafting project! I just finished putting together these cute Tangled inspired invitations for my daughter’s upcoming 7th birthday. I teamed up with Jennifer from Prettiest Print Shop on Etsy. I came across her shop and instantly fell in love with her fun style. I reached out and asked if she wanted to work together on a complete party set based off of her already listed Rapunzel invite. I had her change the wording for me and the colors to match what I was going for and it all came together so cute. Here’s what we did!
I started with a scalloped edge gate fold to enclose the actual invite. I’ll show you how I made that towards the end. It’s so easy and really helps to make it feel extra special! I wanted to have something fun and interactive so I wrapped it up in some pretty satin ribbon to resemble Rapunzel’s hair and tied it up with the cutest little “Untangle” tag. Then I adorned it with some pretty paper roses to finish it off.
Tucked inside the purple gate fold is Jennifer’s adorable invitation.
One thing I’ve never done before is make envelopes. It always seemed like an unnecessary task. I really only needed a few of them though this time around and coundn’t find any online that were the right color so I decided to make my own. Jennifer designed the liner for me to coordinate with the background of the invitation, I just had to print it out and then used my Cricut to cut the envelope and liner for me in 2 steps. SO easy! I just needed to know that I was looking for an A7 size to fit my 5×7 invite and I used one piece of 12×12 cardstock per envelope.
Then I used the Cricut to cut some vinyl stickers of the girls names for the front of the envelope. If you love these invites and want to save them for later please pin the image below! Keep scrolling for a quick DIY on how I made them.
I thought some of you might like to see how I put these guys together. Lucky for you I just so happen to have a few photos of the process. To make the gate fold wrap I started with a standard 8.5 x 11 piece of 80lb cardstock. I did use my Cricut to cut these since I wanted that scallop edge but you could also do a straight edge and just trim it to the size you need. After it’s cut it should be 11 inches long and 5 inches tall.
You could also have your Cricut score them for you to eliminate this step but I wanted to hand score them to show you how easy it was. Using my Martha Stewart scroing board I scored lines in them at the 3 and 8 inch mark.
Then I glued the invitation down using my glue runner. The invitation is sized at 5×7 and printed on 60lb cardstock. Normally I’d go for something sturdier if it was going to be on its own but since the gate fold was pretty hefty I went with something lighter.
I added a velcro sticker dot right at the edge to keep it closed.
Then I started wrapping with a 3/8 inch ribbon making sure to criss cross a little bit. FYI: Papermart has the best ribbon and it’s soo cheap!!
To finish it off, I added the untangle tag and tied it with a bow then glued on some mini paper roses also from Papermart.
Someone’s excited for their birthday party! Be sure to keep an eye on my Instagram page for some behind the scenes of other Rapunzel projects I’m working on!
